Since the Ford GT40 is part of the Shelby legacy I will start posting more information on it’s history and what’s happening with it today.
Some little known facts are that the GT40 started out as an American-British endurance racing car, designed and build in England ( Mk 1, Mk 2, and Mk 3 ) and in the U.S. ( Mk IV ) powered by American performance engines. To this day the GT40 ( Mk IV ) is still the only completely designed and built American car to win the overall LeMans title.

I found this interesting article detailing the changes that set the new Shelby GT350 from the 2015 Mustang GT and other new Mustangs.
There is a lot of print about the upcoming Ford Shelby GT350 mustang. Some is fact and some speculation. Here is what I’ve found.
The car will have a flat-plane crankshaft 5.2 liter V-8 producing over 500 horsepower. The U.S. V-8 engines have the connecting rods attached to the crankshaft at a 90 degree angle. The flat-pane usually used in European sport and racing cars evenly space all crank pins at 180 degree angles which improves performance.
There will be four exhaust tips and the aluminum hood is lower and slopes tightly around the engine for better aerodynamics. It will have independent rear suspension with continuously -variable suspension dampers that read road conditions and driver input, then adjust accordingly. This will give the driver four driving modes: Snow/Wet, Normal, Sport and Track. There will no longer be a Solid Rear Axle.
There will be five settings for the anti-lock braking system. There will be functional air vents carved into the aluminum front fenders and hood. The grill-opening will be carbon based. The front and rear bumpers have been reshaped to add extra downforce. The brakes will be Brembo with 15.5 inch rotors in the front and 15 inches in the rear. Wheels will be 19 inch alloy. Inside the car will be Recaro seats and a flat bottomed steering wheel for easier exit of the car.
